 Forum Navigation and Ideas for Improvement

Hello, I've just been checking back into this site after a long while away and one thing and I've noticed a few things lacking about the forum which IMO make it difficult for a sense of cohesiveness to be created.
For one thing, there's no way to bump a thread, so if anyone wants to comment on an older thread, it most likely won't ever be noticed. Likewise the 'Last Day' view does not show in which threads the most recent posts have been.
Also there are no 'sticky threads' which can stay relevant for a long time. People keep on starting new threads and then everyone else quickly migrates to them and the site just seems to lose some of its cohesiveness.
If any admin is reading this I was wondering if this could be addressed. I think its easier for people to drop out when when their replies aren't answered because everyones moved to a new thread. I think what is needed is something like breaking things into sub-sections with sticky threads.
For example there could be a sub-section for counting days with a 'sticky' permanent thread rather than constantly starting new counting days threads. This section could also include a personal thread for each poster to comment on their own progress to make it easier for others to check in on them (eg- a 'Fandango Thread' and a 'Glorp Thread')
Then there could be another sub-section for posting news articles and news article-related discussion.
Then perhaps a non-gambling sub-section for discussing non-gambling issues and positive stories and thoughts.
It jsut seems like too many thread that are started with a different topic turn back into another counting days thread and then the topic is derailed completely. I'm not saying anyone is derailing the thread deliberately, people want to post in the newest thread even if its not relevant because of the way the forum works.
Anyway I'm not writing this as a criticism of the site, admins or any posters as I think its still a great forum and I really appreciate its existence.
However, my experience with other forums just makes me think it would be good if there could be sub-sections with 'stickies' and a box on the side showing the newest posts and linking to the relevant thread.
I'd like to hear what other people think about these ideas too.
